Fashionscapes

Several years ago, a spontaneous journey to Tenerife became the starting point for a body of work shaped by place and observation. Together with my friend and model, Sara Scarlet, I developed a body paint inspired by the island’s rugged lines, geological structures and stark contrasts.

Working exclusively in black and white allowed the surface to remain tactile and grounded. The painted lines followed the rhythms of the landscape rather than the anatomy of the body alone, translating rock formations, erosion and natural patterns into a human scale.

Once completed, the work was photographed within the landscape that had informed it. Positioned in the same environment, the body both merges with and resists its surroundings. The monochrome palette reduces distraction and sharpens focus, allowing form, texture and presence to come forward.

Rather than documenting a location, this series reflects on the relationship between body and environment. The images suggest a moment of alignment, where human presence does not dominate nature but temporarily inhabits it, existing in balance with the terrain that shaped the work.
